Workforce Readiness & Development

The Howard County Chamber understands the role that the quality and availability of the workforce – both today and years from now – plays in business recruitment, retention and overall success. We are the primary business advocate for quality education programs, work-based learning opportunities, and partnerships that advance the continued improvement of our workforce. We have a central steering committee and a number of task force groups responsible for spearheading programs related to this objective, including:

  • Workforce Development – The Chamber acts as a conduit to assist members in finding the many resources available for them to find and keep a skilled workforce.

  • HowardJobLink.com – The area’s only online job posting database dedicated to the local community, this easy to use web site connects job seekers with employers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Passport to the Future – Passport to the Future helps to prepare students who are interested in direct entrance to the workforce from high school. Students gain the skills that help them demonstrate to employers that they are ready to meet the challenges of the workplace.

  • ACES Academy – ACES gives high school teachers a view of the Howard County business community and the skills that students need to develop for the future.
